I’m trying to work on my leg extension both in forward stroking and in front of me - I think I’m having trouble getting my hips to open more and wondering if anyone has any tips or specific drills that help on and off ice?  I searched the exercises but nothing specifically comes up and I think this could help my single leg Skating a lot with control. Thank you in advance!!!!!!

I’m really struggling with this to be perfectly honest… I don’t follow any of the workouts frankly bc so much of this is new to me and I don’t know technical terms- I’m also neurodiverse so I need to physically see a skater in front of me that I can emulate.

My rink is not the best for doing laps too, depending on the ice condition and how many people are on the ice, so I end up just trying different exercises around one circle or in my own lil corner.

Hoping the community has some input!  I see lots of chatter about "pre-bronze" and testing various things at the end of March in all the skating communities, but I'm super new and started skating recreationally in November.  I've gotten pretty obsessed...and just wonder how the whole testing thing works?  Do you need to be with a coach/club and they enter you into some kind of testing session somewhere?  My home rink doesn't have figure skating programs like this, so I don't see it or have any idea where I can read more and learn about the process.  I'm hoping to get organized over summer so I can do this testing thing next year!  Thanks in advance :)

I'm 40 and in Denver too but live directly behind Big Bear so thats my home rink - $6 Public sessions during the day cannot be beat!  It's generally private ice b/c everyones at work/school.

Visually this was great but the echo on the audio from filming in this room was tough to deal with.  Film these outside!!!
